ESPN NFL FLAG FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS
America’s game may be seen on the gridiron every week in the fall all across the nation, but where do the future stars go to start showing off their speed and skill? The answer may not surprise you as Flag Football is one of the fastest growing sports in the world. The NFL Flag Football Championships erupt with a debut event to be broadcast on ESPN, ABC, NFL+ and the Disney networks.
To promote this event, ESPN approached 2C Media and right away we ran with the ball (wink wink). The key focus was to highlight these already athletic youngsters as “stars in the making”, by leveraging their full breadth of talent, individuality, and representation. Impactful and attitude-forward soundbites highlight a youthful, competitive approach to the game; while a rap-rock track propels the energetic graphics to build excitement for the burgeoning sport.
While it may aspire to showcase the electricity of the big leagues, flag football hasn’t yet attained exposure on network television. Therefore, the team had to overcome production value limitations from the source footage. It was important to elevate the shots with a combination of aggressive color correction and graphic overlays that also played well within the established in-house look developed by ESPN, who proved to be great partners for this project. “We couldn’t have asked for better and supportive collaborators in Ryan and Joe,” says Victor Otero, lead creative for 2C.
To get to the end zone (double-wink) the 2C team hustled to quickly get ESPN a 30/15 for air and streaming, as well as multiple social formats. Tune in from July 19th to the 21st to watch the NFL Flag Championships on ESPN, ABC, NFL+, and the Disney family of networks.
